The Bubble alternative

Leaving Bubble? Bring the idea. Keep the app.

We built on Bubble from 2015 and became one of its first certified agencies. Lynqly is what we built next: describe your app in plain words, get logins, payments and a database already working, and export it whenever you want.

From the founder’s file

We were a Bubble agency. Then we built our own.

Our founder started building on Bubble in 2015. In 2016 we became one of Bubble’s first certified agencies, and for years we built our clients’ apps on it. We know what it does well.

Then, in June 2023, one of our apps got the email on this page. The overage bills came after. So we built the opposite: you pay for the work, every limit is printed, and the app is yours to take.

Our founder’s email to BubbleNov 13, 2015
“…going viral if you are built on bubble can be dangerous!”
From BubbleJun 27, 2023

Your app has been taken offline for hitting its workload limit

You’re getting this email because your app has used 100% of its available workload units. Your app has been taken off…

Why do people leave Bubble?

Three reasons, in Bubble’s own words.

01Workload units

Usage you can’t see coming.

Bubble bills usage in workload units, and every kind of activity is weighed differently. Web plans include 175K to 500K a month.

“…different activities in your app each have an entry cost and a calculation of its final WU cost, depending on its attributes.”Bubble manual, Understanding workload
02The limit

A limit with an off switch.

Past the included workload, overages cost $0.30 per 1,000 units. Turn overages off to cap the bill, and the app stops instead.

“If your app hits the workload limit while overages are disabled, you will receive an email notification that your app has been taken offline.”Bubble manual, Pricing FAQ
03Lock-in

An app that can’t move.

Your data can leave as CSV files or through the API. The app itself stays behind, so leaving means building it again.

“Bubble apps can only be run on the Bubble platform; there’s no way of exporting your application as code.”Bubble manual, Application and data ownership

Can I move my Bubble app to Lynqly?

Bring the idea. Not the workflows.

Bubble apps can’t be exported as code, so there’s no file to carry over. You describe what yours does, the way you’d brief a developer, and it’s rebuilt here. Export your data from Bubble before you close it.

  • Logins and rolesSign-ups, roles and member-only pages work from the first version.
  • A private databaseEvery collection is private until you say who can see it.
  • PaymentsSales go straight into your own Stripe account. We never hold the money.
  • HostingOnline from the first draft, free, and it never sleeps.
  • EmailsConfirmations and receipts go out on their own.

Can I leave Lynqly too?

You can leave any day. So we earn every month.

Export your pages, your data and your members’ logins on every plan, as a project that runs on any server with Node and Postgres. The engine underneath is Fair Source, and every release becomes MIT two years after it ships.

Questions

Leaving Bubble,
answered.

What is the best Bubble alternative?Depends how you build
It depends on how you like to build. If you want to place every element yourself, another visual builder will feel familiar. If you would rather describe the app in plain words and keep it, Lynqly builds it with logins, payments and a database already working, and exports on every plan.
Can I import my Bubble app?Rebuild it instead
Not as a file. Bubble’s own manual says its apps only run on Bubble and can’t be exported as code. So you describe what yours does, in plain words, and it’s rebuilt here. A first version takes minutes, usually under half an hour.
What happens to my Bubble data?Export it first
Bubble lets you export your data as CSV files or read it through its API. Download it before you close your Bubble app. There’s no one-click import of Bubble data into Lynqly today.
Is there anything like workload units?1 operation = 1
Nothing weighted. A page served, a record read, a record saved: each counts once. The Free plan includes 250,000 operations a month (about 25,000 visits). Live and Pro are unlimited, with the fair-use line printed next to the price.
What if my app gets busy?It stays online
On the Free plan, past the monthly allowance your pages, sign-ins and checkout stay up; form saves, uploads and automations pause until the 1st. Live and Pro have no cutoff and no surprise bill. A limit never takes your app offline.
How does the price compare to Bubble?Free to plan
The editor is free and planning is free. Builds are paid: real dollars on a receipt, or a fixed price from $29 locked before the build starts. Hosting starts free, and $8 a month adds your own domain. Bubble’s web plans start at $29 a month billed annually (checked October 2026).
Can I leave Lynqly too?Yes
Yes, on every plan. Export your pages, data and member logins as a project that runs on any server with Node and Postgres. The engine is Fair Source, and every release becomes MIT two years after it ships.
What can’t it build?Live, real-time features
Live, real-time features: GPS tracking, video streaming, instant chat. It builds the working version (statuses, uploads, messages) and tells you up front.

Build it once. Keep it for good.

Describe the app you had, or the one you meant to build. Plan it free, and see the full price before you spend a dollar.
