Domains & DNS

Who is the registrar, and do I really own my domain?

You own your domain. You control its DNS, you can renew it, and you can move it to another provider.

Your domain is registered for you, and it is yours. You can:

  1. Point it anywhere and manage its DNS.
  2. Renew it.
  3. Get the transfer code (auth code) to move it to another provider.

After a domain is registered or transferred in, ICANN rules lock it for 60 days before it can move again. That applies everywhere, not just here.

Good to know

Privacy is on by default, so a privacy service shows in public WHOIS lookups instead of your name and address. You are still the owner. Planning to move a domain out? Write to us from Help first and we'll help with the timing.
